Barcelona have made it their priority to extend Lionel Messi’s stay at the Nou Camp with former President claiming there will be no issues.

Barcelona’s former President, Joan Laporta, is confident that Messi will have no issues with signing a contract that would keep him in Blaugrana colors until his retirement.

Leo’s future at the club has been a recurring debate since current President Josep Maria Bartomeu insisted that he would confirm the extension before his term ends next year.

The Argentine’s existing contract, which ends in 2021, has a clause that allows him to leave at the end of a season, resulting in speculations at the closure of every term.

Laporta, an expected candidate for next year’s Presidential run, claims that Barca’s No. 10 will have an easy time signing an extension.

"“He [Messi] will have no trouble renewing his contract,” Laporta told Deportes Cuatro.Source Goal"

Laporta is also among the many at Barca who wants the return of former Brazilian star, Neymar. The Paris Saint-Germain forward has an uncertain future as it requires all three parties involved to reach a mutual agreement to secure a deal.

"“They were not clear with him [Neymar], I would bring him back for sure,”"

Joan, however, left no chance to make a remark on how he would have run things at Camp Nou when he spoke to GOL’s YouTube channel.

"“This is a project that has me very excited, I am gathering together people I trust because we have to think hard about how to revert the economic situation,” Laporte conveying his intentions of improving the club’s economic situation."

He says that the situation with the current budget of  €3 billion is very delicate and that there is a need for a realistic proposal that includes a sporting project that brings enthusiasm and improves Barca’s image.

Laporte is also excited to return as the club President.

"“I am excited about coming back, but I have room to decide still. I am more enthusiastic about turning around the club’s delicate economic situation with a proposal based on guarantees, I have advanced in this and I am very hopeful.”"
