Barcelona have identified a rising-star to replace Samuel Umtiti

Over the last few weeks, Samuel Umtiti has made it clear that he wants to leave Barcelona and join another club in the upcoming transfer window.

Barcelona have understood that losing Umtiti will tamper with the performances of Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet in the upcoming season as the defensive duo will be overworked considering the fact that the squad has no other centre-back. To prevent the duo from getting overstretched in the upcoming season the Spanish giants has plans to sign a world-class defender.

However, due to the outbreak of the coronavirus the club is going through a financial crisis and have limited funds which they are set to use in order to sign the club’s primary targets Neymar and Lautaro Martinez. This will leave the club with limited funds to spend on a world-class central defender.

There are rumors that Bartomeu has identified a rising star to solve the Spanish giants’ defensive issues. According to the Don Balon, Barcelona have plans to sign Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig.

Even though the young Frenchman has been injured for a majority of games this season he has shown great signs of developing into one of the finest defenders in the world and has offers from Manchester City and Manchester United. Konate has an estimated market value of 45 million euros but RB Leipzig have hinted that they won’t sell the player unless they get an offer amounting to around 60 million euros.

The current La Liga leaders must capitalize on this opportunity and sign the 20-year-old defender, signing Konate will be idealistic as the defender possess elevated passing abilities as well as an outstanding speed which will fit Barcelona’s style of play.

Quique Setien could try to offer Arturo Vidal, Junior Firpo or Ivan Rakitic to RB Leipzig in order to reduce their asking price of 60 Million euros for their young Frenchman.
