A key Barcelona target not wanted at the club by the captain has his plans in place over seeking vengeance in the upcoming transfer window.

Jordi Alba has been one of the world’s best left-backs over the last few years and an undisputed started at Barcelona under every manager that he has played. However, the former Valencia man is nearing the end of his career and age-related issues such as muscular injuries and overall physical fragility has forced the club into looking at signing a replacement.

Despite bringing in a left-back in the shape of Junior Firpo, the Catalans have the same agenda for the summer because the former Real Betis player has been far from impressive. Firpo has not conducted himself well off-field and the unprofessional lifestyle that he’s living has had a negative impact on his performances on the pitch as well.

From several options that the club had on its radar, Lionel Messi blocked a transfer for Porto defender Alex Telles, Don Balon has reported. The Argentina international is of the opinion that the Brazilian fullback lacks the physicality needed by someone of several acreages. Moreover, the 27-year-old’s defensive contribution has not been all that great and the reason for his great worth has been due to his amazing attacking talent.

Alex Telles is clearly unhappy with the fact that one the club’s players intervened to veto his transfer to the Camp Nou, but it’s true that there is no shortage of suitors for him. The Brazil international is wanted by the likes of Chelsea, Inter Milan, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain and he reportedly wants to sign for the Bianconeri.

The player has decided with opting with joining Juventus because the Old Lady of Turin has a very ambitious project of winning the Champions League, with master marksman Cristiano Ronaldo the leading figure. As a result of being turned down by Messi, Telles believes that joining the Argentine’s rival and trying to get the better of him in Europe would be revengeful.

Instead of going for Alex Telles, Barca have been urged to sign a full-back who would be more sought-after defensively such as Messi’s compatriot Nicolas Tagliafico. Besides the Ajax Amsterdam defender, the La Liga leaders are looking at Bayern Munich’s David Alaba too and will decide on who to sign as time progresses and more is known about Alba’s fitness.

Who do you think should be signed as a left-back by the Catalan giants?
