Barcelona have targeted a cheap signing for the summer as ongoing coronavirus pandemic continues to affect the club’s finances.

Estadio Deportivo reports that Legia Warsaw defender, Michal Karbownik, is being targetted by Barcelona amid interests from the Premier League side, Tottenham Hotspurs, and the Scottish Premiership side, Celtic.

More from Everything Barca

Mirror had previously claimed that Spurs were leading the race to sign the 19-year-old, chasing the youngster for nearly a  year to manage a deal for around 10 million pounds. The Daily Record were also linking the defender away from the Polish side but this time to Scotland’s Celtic.

Barca have decided to join the race in a very cunning manner by wanting to sign the youngster but have him playing elsewhere to continue his development, with Real Betis being among the favorite destinations.

The situation is similar to the deal struck between Barca and Betis for securing full-back, Emerson. The two sides split the transfer fee for the 21-year-old, where the Brazilian will start at Betis until 2021. The Catalans will have an option to purchase the defender at the end of that season.

Blaugrana are looking at a similar opportunity for Karbownik as they view him as potentially a great backup to Jordi Alba. Michal has secured six assists in 19 appearances this season and has the ability to play on both sides of the full-back role.

Should Barca take this opportunity to secure a cheap alternative for the much-needed full-back role?
