Over the past few weeks, Ivan Rakitic has made it clear that he wants to leave Barcelona and play his last few years away from the Camp Nou.

More from Everything Barca

Ivan Rakitic’s issue steams from the fact that the staff and his teammates at Barcelona haven’t supported or been there for him when he’s needed them the most.

Moreover, the Croatia international feels disappointed by the fact that he’s been benched despite maintaining outstanding fitness and giving great performances in training. Even though Rakitic is 32 years old and has played limited football this season he has an estimated market value of 30 million euros.

The outbreak of the coronavirus has financially strained the Spanish giants which has led to Quique Setien taking a decision to add many players from his squad such as Arturo Vidal, Junior Firpo, Samuel Umtiti and Philippe Coutinho to sell in the upcoming transfer market in order to raise funds. Barcelona have decided to agree to Rakitic’s request to leave the club and have decided to add him to the list of players who are set to be sold by the club.

Several clubs such as Inter Milan, Juventus, Inter Miami and Sevilla have shown interest to sign the Croatian international. The midfielder has reviewed all his options and has decided that he wants to join Sevilla. According to the eldesmarque, Sevilla’s management and Rakitic have been negotiating a transfer deal which has fallen short due to inadequate amounts of funds to transfer the midfielder. This has led to a shocking decision in which the Croatian maestro has decided to stay in Barcelona until his contract expires and join Sevilla as a free agent in the subsequent season.

Barca mustn’t let this happen as they will lose out on the opportunity to gain sufficient funds from the sale of Rakitic this season. Bartomeu must initiate conversations with the Croatian midfielders representatives and convince him to sign for another club such as Inter Milan or Juventus who can provide him with the opportunity to play in the Champions League on a more regular basis as compared to Sevilla.

The Spanish giants should also try to include Rakitic in their transfer negotiations to sign their primary transfer targets Neymar and Lautaro Martinez.
