Barcelona coach, Quique Setien, has analyzed his 12 matches and the results are shocking with an unwanted star named favorite.

Setien has reportedly been using this suspension period to analyze and review the twelve matches that he has managed as a Barcelona coach. Setien has reached the conclusion that his squad has been their best when the midfield consists of 3 specific players.

More from Everything Barca

Frenkie de Jong, Sergio Busquets, and surprisingly Ivan Rakitic are the men being named. The 61-year-old believes that the 2-1 victory over Levante, the two defeats against Athletic Bilbao in Copa del Rey and the latest Clasico against Real Madrid respectively, have been the best performances by the squad. He finds these matches to have been executed better than the 5-0 win against Eibar and Leganes in Barca’s La Liga and Copa del Rey matches respectively.

During the Levante match, the squad were tested tactically with Ansu Fati taking control of the game after scoring 2 goals in the span of 2 minutes. The coach feels that the elimination from Copa del Rey after the match against Athletic was fought well until the last minute. Against Real Madrid, Barca created many chances but failed to secure them.

With the Spanish League looking to restart next month, the players have joined their respective clubs to start training. Setien has decided to take a tactical approach for the training session with a focus on ball possession and control over the game.

By the looks of it, Ivan Rakitic might stay for another year at Barca as the Croatian approaches the last 12 months of his existing contract.
