Paris Saint-Germain will have to significantly drop Neymar’s asking price, especially as Barcelona start looking elsewhere.

Sport reports a study conducted and have concluded that any footballer’s value could drop in the current transfer market as an effect of the on-going COVID-19 pandemic. This means that signings won’t be as costly as they were and the number of transfers will significantly reduce. Barcelona will use this opportunity to push for Neymar.

In the current market, exchange offers and loan deals will be on the high. The ‘Football Benchmark’ report reveals that Neymar, who has been eyed by Barca for a long time, could have a huge price reduction. The PSG forward has been looking to come back to Barca for a long time but things were looking difficult with the financial restrictions due to COVID-19.

With the report now suggesting a whopping 21.7% price drop of the Brazilian’s cost, his price reduces to 137 million pounds from 177 million pounds, which is still more than Barca can afford to pay but quite doable by offering the likes Antoine Griezmann in exchange.

Barca president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, is adamant about offloading a number of players either on exchange deals or selling them outright. Former club president, Emili Rousaud, believes the lowering of asking fee will give the club a huge advantage to come closer to the highly anticipated signing.

Rousaud also claimed that the club could look for payment in installments as an alternative to secure the deal. Fans around the world have a mix of emotion towards this signing as while it’s obvious his signing will boost the team, at 28 years of age would affect the number of years he has in his prime.
