Barcelona player to compete in Sunday’s Virtual F1 Grand Prix

Barcelona competes alongside Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero and Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois in Sunday’s Virtual Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix.

Barcelona midfielder, Arthur Melo, has been linked with a move to Juventus this summer with reports claiming an agreement between the two clubs to exchange Miralem Pjanic for the Brazilian.

Arthur, however, is unwilling to move as he desires to establish himself as one of the greats at Barca. Meanwhile, the Brazilian is busy not worrying about his future but about a different sport entirely.

Arthur will be joining the Formula 1 grid to compete against Manchester City’s Aguero and Real Madrid’s Courtois this Sunday. The city’s top scorer will be racing virtually from home in F1’s Red Bull car.

This particular race is the fifth of the series that started for the F1 fans around the world as a result of the shutdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The race is set in the Spanish Grand Prix circuit where Real Madrid goalkeeper, Courtois, will be driving an Alfa Romeo car. The Belgium international is a gaming enthusiast having already been featured in the series.

Barca’s Arthur Melo will be racing in Haas alongside test driver Pietro Fittipaldi on the F1 2019 official game. The footballers will be competing alongside F1 drivers Lando Norris, Nicholas Latifi, George Russell, Antonio Giovinazzi, and Charles Leclerc.

Golfers among the Barca fan base can also enjoy the event with icon Ian Poulter joining the grid with Renault. The race will be taking place on a virtual session of the Spanish circuit, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

How To Watch: The race will be broadcasted live from the Gfinity Esports Arena from 17:00 UTC (18:00 BST) on Sunday, May 10; which will be available on the official F1 website: F1.com and the Formula 1 channel on Twitch, Youtube, Weibo, Huya, and Facebook.

The race will also be broadcasted live in over 100 countries. UK users can enjoy the event on Sky Sports while US citizens can view it on ESPN. Southeast Asia can view the Grand Prix on FOX Sports Asia.
