Neymar snubs Barcelona after Paris Saint-Germain have stepped into the race to sign Barcelona’s long term target from Italy

Barcelona has struggled to reach the European summit ever since their championship campaign in the 2014/15 season, the Catalans have been shamelessly knocked out from the competition for two consecutive seasons now.

More from Everything Barca

Lionel Messi, in particular, has faced a lot of criticism for not turning up in the crucial knockout stages of the Champions League, however, although the captain of Barca is generally used as the scapegoat for the media to target for the awful performances by the team in away matches, the actual issue lies deep within the incompetent board who have failed in building a squad that can compete for the Champions League.

Like Lionel Messi of Barcelona, Neymar of Paris Saint-Germain is usually dubbed as the scapegoat every time the Parisians are eliminated from the Champions League, the harsh criticism followed by the poor performances by the French team made the Brazilian consider a switch back to the Camp Nou where he could possibly win Europe’s elite competition once again alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

However, Neymar’s fortune changed after the Brazilian scored a header from a corner to knock Borussia Dortmund out of the Champions League in the return leg. The former Barca winger finally believes that the current PSG team led by Thomas Tuchel has the capability to win the coveted European trophy and that there is no reason for the winger to return to the Camp Nou.

With the departures of both Edinson Cavani and Mauro Icardi, Thomas Tuchel would need a striker upfront that would finish off the chances created by Neymar and Kylian Mbappe on the wings, the Parisian club has considered signing Lautaro Martinez who would be the perfect replacement for the club legend, Edinson Cavani, according to Don Balon.

The recently crowned champions of France are well aware that Barcelona lacks the financial power to sign Lautaro Martinez and that they have the golden opportunity to land the player this season. With the departure of both Mauro Icardi and Edinson Cavani, PSG would be benefited financially as well to sign the Argentine from Inter Milan.

If the Ligue 1 champions land Lautaro Martinez from Italy, Thomas Tuchel would have the best-attacking lineup in all of Europe and it would also be a huge blow to Barcelona as Neymar would continue at Paris along with their long term target Lautaro Martinez.
