Barcelona are set to lose Samuel Umtiti in the upcoming transfer market and are eyeing the signing of a central defender going into the summer.

More from Everything Barca

To replace Samuel Umtiti Barcelona have decided to spend their transfer budget to add a central defender to the Camp Nou. The Spanish giants have identified Juan Foyth from Tottenham as an ideal candidate to enhance the backline of squad.

Foyth is extremely disappointed after being given the opportunity to play in only four Premier League matches this season. The 22-year-old defender has publicly addressed the issue and has stated that he feels disrespected by the way he’s been used by his team this season and that leaving the English club might be the best move for his future.

According to the Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona, Boca Juniors and River plate are all interested to sign young defender. The Argentinean  has an estimated market value of 15 million euros with a contract which extends until 2022.

The defending La Liga champions should plan on offering Samuel Umtiti to Tottenham Hotspur for Juan Foyth along with Tanguy Ndombele who has been heavily linked with a move away from England. This move has a high probability of occurring as both Spurs players have failed to featured in an adequate number of games under Jose Mourinho.

The north Londoners’ management might be tempted by this offer as they gain the opportunity to sign one of the best central defenders in the world of football and offload two players who may not be in their manager’s plans.

Barcelona could alternatively invest their transfer budget in signing other central defenders such as Kalidou Koulibaly, Dayot Upamecano and Ibrahima Konate who have played a more critical role for their teams in the past two seasons in comparison to Juan Foyth.
