The player who has offered himself to Zinedine Zidane and Quique Setien is Chelsea’s American international and debutant, Christian Pulisic, according to Don Balon. After four seasons with Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, the US international decided to try his luck elsewhere and from all the offers he received, Chelsea’s project seemed most convincing for the winger.
In the 2019/20 season, the Blues lost Eden Hazard to Real Madrid and Christian Pulisic was signed as an immediate replacement for 64 million euros. However, the dream of the American replacing Eden Hazard did not pan out as expected, the former Borussia Dortmund publicly admitted that his adaption phase to the lifestyle in England and the physicality of the Premier League has not turned out well.
In fact, the US international also faced stiff competition as Frank Lampard had several choices on the wings, such as Mason Mount who has performed admirably along with Willian who is set to leave for either Barcelona or Tottenham Hotspur and Callum Hudson-Odoi who has successfully recovered from COVID-19.
However, statistically, the former Bundesliga man has scored 5 goals and has set up 2 assists for his teammates in 12 Premier League starts, however, the numbers are misleading, as the player has gone several matches without having a significant impact on the game and a sense of disappointment has risen amongst the Blues fans.
Don Balon claims that the US international is not happy with how he has been treated in London and that he does not look down on the opportunity to leave England for another country. Real Madrid and Barcelona have been following the player for quite some time, however, neither of the clubs has ever made an official offer for the winger.
Barcelona would need the left-winger a lot more than Real Madrid since Zidane already has Eden Hazard and Marco Asensio on the left flank. The Catalans could make Antoine Griezmann the main striker of the team instead of playing him on the left-wing and Christian Pulisic could be used on the flank instead since it is his natural position.
The 21-year-old winger is currently valued at 54 million euros and the Catalans could consider signing the player a season later since they face a severe lack of funds for the coming summer market.
Should Barcelona sell Luis Suarez and make Antoine Griezmann the striker of the club with Lionel Messi and Christian Pulisic on the wings?.
