Barcelona and Inter Milan have had talks involving defenders from their respective clubs.

Lautaro Martinez is the main player Barcelona are after but they have also set their sights on another Nerazurri player.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalans have inquired about the availability of center-back Milan Skriniar. A potential agreement would be complicated as manager Antonio Conte considers him important to his side, he has a contract until 2023 and will likely cost at least €70 million to pry him away.

According to SempreInter, the Italian side have no desire to let the Slovakian defender leave. Though they are looking to sign a young center-back as their plan is to let Diego Godin leave.

However, a small sliver of hope for Barcelona is that Inter are interested in their center-back, Samuel Umtiti. The Frenchman, when healthy, is one of the game’s best defenders. Since the 2018 World Cup, however, staying fit has been a problem.

Umtiti’s future is up in the air right now. He could be part of a different deal involving Martinez. But he could also stay as he appears to have the trust of Quique Setién.

Even if Skriniar were to be made available. Barcelona would not be the only club interested.

Real Madrid are also said to be eyeing him as they begin their search to find a replacement for Sergio Ramos.

In terms of financial strength, Madrid appear to be in a better shape than their rivals and if it turns into a bidding match, Barcelona are unlikely to come out the winning end.

Ahead of the transfer season, Barça seem to be targeting Serie A as the league where they’re looking to do their business. They’ve been in talks with Inter and Juventus around a number of players discussing possible trade deals.

Skriniar is simply the latest in a long-line of players they’ve been linked to. Though out of all of them, he is a long shot considering he’d leave a huge hole in the Inter defense.
