What started off as a rumor about Pjanic’s move to the Nou Camp has become a mega project for the two footballing giants due to the economic crisis faced by them. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has forced the clubs to partake in player exchange deals rather than cash transfers.
Barca’s interest in Pjanic opened the doors for Juventus to enquire about multiple footballers in Camp Nou with intentions of avoiding a cash transfer and basing the deal solemnly on a swap. This deal, however, has become a back and forth negotiation between the two sides, where both parties involved are trying to acquire the most out of their opponents.
Multiple players are being discussed with the likes of Mattia de Sciglio for Jean-Clair Todibo and Arthur Melo/Ivan Rakitic for Miralem Pjanic having already been reported. Juventus, however, are feeling ambitious with their latest inquiry of acquiring Barca’s most valued asset.
The Italian giants opened up about the possibility of having Frenkie de Jong involved in a swap deal. The Dutch international recently joined for 75 million euros while former Ajax teammate, Matthijs de Ligt moved to Turin.
De Jong is undoubtedly a key part of the club’s future with the Catalan side showing intentions of securing De Ligt in the near future as they search for Gerard Pique‘s successor. The Spanish club have shut down any talks regarding their star midfielder as he is a non-transferable part of the club alongside Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Lionel Messi.
Barca fans await the closure of this deal so it is clear which of the players would be exchanged in the summer transfer window, with many hoping for a possible trade which would include the likes of De Ligt.
Should Barca be equally ambitious and open negotiations for Matthijs de Ligt?
