Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne has considered moving to either Barcelona or Real Madrid to play regular Champions League football.

Earlier at the start of the year, Manchester City was banned from Champions League football due to several serious breaches in the UEFA Financial Fair Play regulations. With no Champions League football for the next two years at the Etihad Stadium, Pep Guardiola finds himself in a tight space as one of his key and favourite players has considered signing for either Barcelona or Real Madrid to play regular Champions League football.

More from Everything Barca

Former Chelsea blue and Belgian international, Kevin de Bruyne recently stated that a season without Champions League football would be difficult for him and two years would be pushing it. It seems like the talismanic forward has warned Manchester City that if the ban is not lifted then he would consider a move away as the soon to be 29-year-old midfielder has not yet won the coveted European trophy.

Several clubs are interested in signing the goalscoring midfielder, however, the Belgian has already played in the Premier League and the Bundesliga which makes La Liga Santander the most ideal destination for the player.

Both Real Madrid and Barcelona are ready to go all out for the player, however, Manchester City would demand a figure over 100 million euros and the Catalans are already focused on making another 100 million-plus signing on either Neymar or Lautaro Martinez, which rules out the possibility for Barca to land Kevin de Bruyne.

The Los Blancos have the upper hand from all the other clubs, as Don Balon claims that Zinedine Zidane is willing to offer Isco Alarcon in exchange for Kevin de Bruyne and Pep Guardiola has been a massive admirer of the Spanish midfielder who would easily adjust to the possession-based football that the former Bayern Munich coach demands.

Although the report goes on to state that the midfielder has not yet made up his mind on which Spanish giant should he sign for and the Blaugrana could possibly include Philippe Coutinho or Ousmane Dembele as the Manchester-based team might lose Leroy Sane to Bayern Munich in the summer.

Another reason that might see the former Chelsea footballer sign for Barcelona would be that if Juan Laporta is elected as president for Barca in the elections of 2021, then Pep Guardiola would be appointed as his preferred choice which could play a major role for the Belgian midfielder who has flourished under Guardiola.
