Lautaro Martinez has spoken regarding the speculation about a move to Barcelona while on an interview with Mundo Deportivo.

Barcelona has been chasing Lautaro Martinez for the last couple of months and after several failed attempts at signing the player from Inter Milan, the Argentine international has finally given his word regarding the entire situation.

More from Everything Barca

The current La Liga leaders are in a need of a first-team quality striker who could potentially replace Luis Suarez, the former Liverpool man had undergone a major surgery after sustaining an injury to his knee and was spotted at the training ground last Friday looking out of shape.

The 33-year-old Uruguayan international’s career has now come to standstill at the Camp Nou and the player himself stated that Lautaro Martinez would be the ideal recruitment to replace him and to bolster the veteran squad with some young blood.

However, it is evident that even before the pandemic hit Barcelona hard financially, the Catalan club lacked the funds to sign Rodrigo Moreno from Valencia in the winter transfer market for just 50 million euros, meanwhile, the release clause set for the Argentine striker is a 111 million euros. Only a miracle would possibly land Lautaro Martinez at the Camp Nou as the club cannot afford the players release clause this season nor his hefty demands.

After months of speculation regarding a switch to the La Liga Santander where he would join forces in attack with his compatriot Lionel Messi, Lautaro Martinez has finally spoken about his future while on an interview with Mundo Deportivo, according to Eldes Marque

In his interview, the striker stated that he had conveyed his message to Inter Milan’s board that either he will move to Barcelona or he will stay at Inter Milan, which rules out all the possible rumours of the player joining Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain.

Lionel Messi would be displeased that his promise was not met, however, the striker has given his word and that in a season or two he would be unveiled as a Blaugrana at the Camp Nou.

Should Barca wait for another season or two for Lautaro Martinez? Or should they sign an immediate cheaper alternative for Luis Suarez such as Timo Werner?
