Barcelona is on the verge to make an irreversible loss after the departure of one of the most crucial players has been more or less confirmed.
Nelson Semedo’s career at Barcelona nears the end as the possibility of the player leaving the Camp Nou for another club continues to grow. The Portuguese right-back was signed in the summer of 2017 from Benfica for a figure worth 30 million euros. Barca managed to waive off the interest shown by Manchester United and Bayern Munich who were keen on signing the Portuguese talent after the Catalan’s offered the player a better contract.

However, in spite of performing admirably for the club over the last 3 seasons, the contributions of the Portuguese international has been heavily underrated and Sergi Roberto has been generally preferred as the first choice right back in most of the crucial games which seems to be unfair as Nelson Semedo is a better right back when compared to the Spaniard whose natural position is a midfielder.
This is not the first time that the former Benfica footballer has felt that the board has let him down by fulfilling the role that he was promised three seasons ago. Last season the 26-year-old right-back desperately wanted a move away from Camp Nou, but the board managed to convince the player to stay on for another season where he would be the undisputable starter of the team.
The board has failed once again in ensuring that the Semedo remains as the first choice right-back and the player has received an offer from Manchester City who is willing to offer 35 million euros for the Portuguese as Pep Guardiola is a massive admirer of the player, according to Don Balon.
If Barcelona does let Nelson Semedo walkout for 35 million euros then it would be an irreversible loss since the club currently lacks the fund to signs to sign a world-class replacement such as Joshua Kimmich or neither is there a cheaper alternative in the market who is on par with the Portuguese’s quality. Letting Nelson Semedo leave in the coming summer market might be the club’s worst mistake.
