Tagliafico joined the Eredivisie giants back in 2018 and since then, he has established himself as an integral component of the line-up. The Argentina international is currently looking for a way out of the club in a bid to play in more competitive leagues and seeks to be united with his Argentine teammate in Lionel Messi, and former Ajax sperstar Frenkie de Jong.
He however, has made it clear that there is nothing definitive on his mind regarding his next club but his only focus is to remain as fit as possible for the time of his possible departure from the Johan Cruyff Arena.
The 27 year-old has featured in the Dutch top-flight for over 2 years now and in all probability, La Liga could well be his next destination. Last year, Atletico Madrid tried to acquire his services but the deal broke down before it even got a chance to take-off.
The competition for the Catalan looks minimal this time around and this deal should be within their reach. He would be replacing Jordi Alba at the club in the longer-run and become a back-up to the left back as Junior Firpo is expected to depart after just one year at the club.
The Blaugrana need a quality left-back and while Tagliafico can’t be touted as one for the future considering he’s 27, he can provide some much needed stability at the back of the field. The defender has got quality, speed and good positioning and is well within the financial range of the club and therefore, Barca shouldn’t hesitate in making a bid for him.
The likes of Lautaro Martinez, and Neymar are already on the club’s radar but given the current financial situation, it’s highly unlikely that Barcelona would be able to land either of the players and hence the only advisable option would be to go after some quality, less-sought players who can fill in the kinks in the armour.
