Barcelona have been heavily linked with Inter Milan over the past few weeks in hopes to try and negotiate a transfer deal for Lautaro Martinez who could act as a long-term replacement for Luis Suarez at the Camp Nou.

More from Everything Barca

Even though Barcelona’s management has listed Neymar and Lautaro Martinez as their primary transfer targets in the upcoming transfer window, Quique Setien has suggested that he would like to bring defensive changes in the club. The Spanish giants have decided to sign a central defender who can act as a replacement for Samuel Umtiti who is set to leave the club in the summer transfer window.

Moreover, singing a central defender will mean that there’s a long-term solution for Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet would have a reliable partner beside him for the next few years.

The 2018-2019 La Liga champions have shown interest in signing Milan Skriniar from Inter Milan as a potential player who can strengthen the backline at the Camp Nou in the upcoming transfer window.

According to the Mirror, Inter Milan have decided to list Skriniar on the transfer market for the asking price of around 55 million Euros. The Slovakia international is heavily linked with a move to Manchester United and Real Madrid.

Real Madrid feel that the 25-year-old defender can act as a long-term replacement for Sergio Ramos in the heart of their defence but have failed to agree with the price set by Inter Milan and are inclined to offer around 40 million euros for the transfer.

Manchester United have shown signs that they are willing to spend the amount that Inter Milan have demanded to sign Skriniar but the Slovakian defender has decided to defer taking a decision on whether he would like to join the English club because he would like to see if the club manage to qualify for the Champions League in the upcoming season which is a deal breaker for him.

Barcelona should try and capitalize on this opportunity by offering players such as Ivan Rakitic, Arturo Vidal and Junior Firpo to reduce the Nerazzurri’s asking price for the transfer of their star defender.
