The player that Barca is willing to steal from Liverpool’s agenda is Bayer Leverkusen’s star player, Kai Havertz. The 20-year-old German footballer has made a name for himself in Europe after taking the Bundesliga by a storm last season with Bayern Leverkusen, the attacking midfielder managed to score 17 goals and 3 assists in 34 league games and many have compared the player to Mesut Ozil for his creativity and James Rodriguez for his goal-scoring abilities.
At just the tender age of 20, the midfielder is wanted by several top-flight clubs in the world and Jurgen Klopp is a massive admirer of his countryman. Don Balon claims that the former Borussia Dortmund manager wanted to sign Kai Havertz from Bayern Leverkusen as his creativity in the middle of the park would benefit the squad tremendously as the midfielder has the capability to unlock defences by playing in a through ball and can take a shot from distance with ease.
However, Don Balon claims that Liverpool had to withdraw their offer since Bayern Leverkusen demand a figure worth 100 million euros for their attacking midfielder. The pandemic has vastly disrupted Jurgen Klopp’s summer overhaul and the current Premier League leaders have lost out on Timo Werner and now Kai Havertz due to insufficient funds.
Quique Setien and the board are keen on bringing the German midfielder on board to strengthen the weak midfield. The addition of Kai Havertz in the Blaugrana squad would directly benefit Lionel Messi, as the 33-year-old forward would not have to worry about dropping deep to help in the build-up since the German midfielder would take over that role.
Although Quique Setien and Lionel Messi is keen on signing the Bundesliga man, the Catalan’s find themselves in the same boat as Liverpool, as the La Liga leaders themselves face a severe shortage of funds.
Unlike Jurgen Klopp, the former Real Betis manager has a few players that he did not make his plans for the upcoming season and they could be offered in a possible swap deal to lower the price set on Kai Havertz.
For now, the Bayern Leverkusen midfielder continues to train and focuses on finishing the remainder of the Bundesliga on a good note with his club.
