Barcelona’s quest for a long-term quality striker continues as they have three options in front of them.

As per Don Balon, Barcelona are currently looking at Timo Werner as an alternative to Lautaro Martinez, who seems to be beyond their reach, given the current financial condition of the club.

More from FC Barcelona News

Werner is currently valued at 60 million euros and is one of the most highly rated and upcoming strikers in the game. On the other hand, Lautaro Martinez is valued at a mammoth 110 million euros. Moreover, if Barcelona even decide to go for Martinez, they won’t be able to afford his wages, given the current situation.

Werner is affordable in all aspects and he has the potential to be a world class striker if groomed well. Another option that the Blaugrana are staring at is Moussa Dembele who plays for Olympique Lyon. He is the cheapest of the lot, but the Ligue 1 is one of the least competitive leagues going around and hence one can say that Dembele hasn’t really proven himself although he is touted to be one of the upcoming superstars.

Dembele had a fantastic season with Lyon scoring 22 goals and having 7 assists next to his name. He is currently valued around 45 million euros and is also being chased by Manchester United and Chelsea. Werner on the other hand, is on the radar of Liverpool and Real Madrid as well.

The Catalan giants need a squad revamp and there isn’t any doubt about it. They are in need of a long-term striker to replace Suarez and a right-back in order to replace Pique who is 33 at the moment. Barcelona’s budget is set to be around 170 million euros and it’s what holding them from making lucrative signings.

The Blaugrana still have their eyes set on Neymar for some reason and it doesn’t make much sense, to be honest. Instead, they could choose to go after a quality and affordable defender and striker who can fit into the club’s plans for the future rather than emptying a huge chunk of their war-chest on a single player.
