Barcelona loanee, Marc Cucurella, currently playing for Getafe, is on the verge of joining Premier League as the Catalan side lose yet another youngster.

Marc Cucurella joined Getafe in 2019 on a loan deal which included the option of permanently signing the Barcelona youngster for 6 million euros. Getafe are now planning to use this purchase option to then resell the midfielder to a number of interested Premier League sides.

More from Everything Barca

Cucurella was previously loaned to Eibar with a similar deal but the difference is that Barca does not have any repurchase option this time around. Catalunya Radio had reported earlier that the club were planning a return for Cucurella but Barca sources have since confirmed that this is not possible because Getafe have already informed the club about their intentions of executing the purchase option for six million euros.

The midfielder will officially become a Getafe player with Barca having a 40% guaranteed transfer fee from the player’s future moves. If the Catalan giants want the player back as their own, they must do it in the same way as any other club, via an actual transfer negotiation which will undoubtedly cost more than the six million that will be paid.

Reports suggest that Getafe have placed a 25 million euro release clause in the player’s contract but the Catalan side does have the option to pay a lowered fee of 15 million. Mundo Deportivo, however, have reported that Barca are not planning to use this rare opportunity, opening the doors to many Premier League giants that are interested in acquiring the midfielder.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with the 21-year-old with Arsenal also showing signs of interest. 25 million euro for a proven midfielder of such a young age is a rare option in the current market and both the Premier League clubs can use a player like Cucurella.
