Barcelona have finalized a list of players to be sold or exchanged to generate 140 million euros in the summer transfer window.

Reports have already confirmed that Barcelona have a requirement of raising 70 million euros before June 30th to settle their books this summer. For that purpose the club has constructed a massive player sale and exchange project that would raise 140 million euros.

Multiple players have been placed on this list to help raise this estimated amount with Barca considering these players as those that they don’t see fit or highly necessary for their future projects. Many of these footballers are either players that are way past their prime or those that did not meet the expectations of the board despite being given enough opportunities.

Players that are reportedly on this list include defenders: Nelson Semedo, Samuel UmtitiJean-Clair Todibo, and Junior Firpo; and Midfielders: Arturo Vidal, Ivan Raktiic, Rafinha Alcantara and Carles Alena. The Catalan giants are aiming to receive cash for these players but are also open about the possibility of including them in a swap deal for their transfer interests.

The ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic has shifted the football market from cash flow to purely exchange deals among clubs as they all have been financially hit. The economic crisis has forced their hand to make their players take a wage cut to support their staff. They face a difficult task of managing their finances while signing new players in the summer to remain competitively strong for the upcoming seasons.

Ivan Rakitic has already been linked with a move this summer as he only has a year remaining in his contract. Barca are looking to include him on an exchange deal with Inter for Lautaro Martinez or with Juventus for Miralem Pjanic but the Croatian international has rejected all offers as he hopes to finish off his existing contract.

Arturo Vidal is another player with an expiring contract with the Spanish giants looking to use him primarily in the Lautaro deal as Inter have shown a fondness for the Chilean international. Umtiti and Semedo are two proven first-team players that have used up all their opportunities at Camp Nou as the club feels that the two defenders have not lived up to their expectations this season.

Semedo’s is a slightly unique case as the Portuguese international has asked for an increased salary that the Catalan giants are not willing to spend thus resulting in a dispute that would lead to his exit. The rest of the players on the list are youngsters that have good value in the current market which the club looks to use to their advantage to secure more established talents this summer.
