Lionel Messi vetoes a generational signing for Barcelona which leaves Real Madrid as the favourites in the transfer market.

Adama Traore had come up the ranks of La Masia and had made it into the senior team of Barcelona in 2013/14, however, the powerful versatile winger made just one appearance in his debut season with the senior team that finished second in the table by falling two points short to Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid.

More from Everything Barca

Due to the lack of game time in the Camp Nou, the Spanish footballer decided to try his fortune in England with Aston Villa in the Premier League in the summer of 2015. Three seasons later Adama Traore signed for Wolverhampton Wanderers where he hit the ground running in the Premier League due to his immense physical capabilities and under the guidance of Nuno Espirito Santo.

The former La Masia graduate has performed admirability this season in the Premier League with four goals to his name and seven assists that has caught the attention of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Liverpool.

The attacking frontline at the Camp Nou is star-studded, however, it is also an aging frontline since Lionel Messi has entered his final few seasons of professional football along with Luis Suarez. Relying on either Ousmane Dembele or Philippe Coutinho to perform would be a massive risk since the French footballer repeatedly gets injured every season and the Brazilian forward lacks the consistency he once showed during his time in England.

Although, Barca might have several attacking options upfront, the addition of Adama Traore would benefit the club due to his age, experience, versatility, and sheer explosiveness while attacking and defending. However, Don Balon claims that Lionel Messi has already vetoed the possible arrival of the Wolves forward since the captain believes that the winger lacks the experience to make the big move to Camp Nou.

Knowing the incompetent board, it rests assured that they would dare not go against the wishes of Lionel Messi which would eventually leave Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Manchester City as the favourites to sign the Wolves forward.

In the past, the Spanish winger has also spoken about a move back to his home country and has not ruled out the possibility of signing for Real Madrid despite coming up the ranks at Barca.
