Barcelona have placed their struggling winger, Ousmane Dembele, on the transfer market surprisingly even with the fact that it would be at a great loss for the Catalans.

The French international has displayed his desire to remain at the Nou Camp to prove his worth, at least till the end of his current contract. Many were speculating the winger’s future, as his poor performance and work ethic combined with reoccurring injuries have proved to be a disaster for the Spanish side.
Quique Setien, on multiple occasions, had publically stated that he is optimistic about Dembele’s future at the club but Sport via TMW are now reporting that the Catalan giants have made up their mind to sell the 23-year-old this summer.
The reason for the decision is that Barca want to lower the budget needed for player salary next season due to the financial implications of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Frenchman’s sale will not only get rid of a massive salary fee but also add some cash to their books.
Paris Saint-Germain have been interested in the world cup winner for quite some time but his high transfer fee was pushing them away until the same report claimed that the Spanish side are willing to negotiate for a reduced fee of just 42 million euros this summer. An unbelievable offer that the Parisiens will surely be keen to see through.
The French side’s sporting director, Leonardo, has been known to be interested and will surely make a bid if the rumors are true. Dembele’s current salary is 12 million euros per season along with an additional 6.6 million in variables.
It remains to be seen which European giants will pounce on this opportunity as pre-coronavirus any club would have loved this offer but due to the financial struggles faced by the teams, they will all have to evaluate their priorities.
