Barcelona eye a surprisingly massive double swap for the summer from Europe’s finest talent factory club.
Barcelona and Ajax Amsterdam are two clubs that are uniquely connected by the philosophy left behind by one of the greatest footballers ever, Johan Cruyff. Both the clubs have also shared several world-class players over the years including Michael Laudrup, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Ronald de Boer, Patrick Kluivert, and the recent signing from the modern age of football, Frenkie de Jong.

The Catalan board are set to strengthen their ties and history with Ajax Amsterdam after preparing a 65 million euro operation with the Dutch football club. Don Balon claims that Josep Maria Bartomeu has shortlisted Nicolas Tagliafico and Andre Onana as possible signings for the summer.
Nicolas Taglifico has been wanting a move to Europe’s elite division since last season, however, the Argentine international has grown tired after waiting for another season as he believes that he is in the peak of his career and this would be an ideal time for him to make the big jump like most Ajax players do.
Lionel Messi has also been a massive admirer of his compatriot in the Netherlands and had requested the board to sign the Argentine left-back as a replacement for Jordi Alba and to sell Junior Firpo who has failed to live up to the expectations. The price set on Nicolas Tagliafico is rumoured to be around 30 million euros, a figure that would not disrupt the other transfer operations that Barca have set out for the summer.
Andre Onana has been heavily linked to a move to Chelsea this summer after Frank Lampard had acquired the services of Hakim Ziyech on a pre-contractual agreement. However, at the Stamford Bridge, the uncertainty regarding the future of Kepa Arizabalaga continues as rumours have broken out stating that Frank Lampard has decided to keep the player next season as well.
However, at the Camp Nou, the future regarding Neto remains uncertain since the Brazilian has been given just one appearance since signing his contract in the summer of 2019/20. It seems like the second-choice goalkeeper is willing to downgrade to a club where he would get regular football.
If Neto does leave in the summer, the current La Liga leaders are willing to offer Ajax Amsterdam 35 million euros for Andre Onana as the Cules would require a backup goalkeeper. Although it should be taken under consideration that a player of Onana’s quality would not want to be the second choice at any club and nor would Ajax Amsterdam accept an offer worth 35 million euros for their goalkeeper who is also wanted by several other clubs in Europe.
Josep Maria Bartomeu has prepared his offer for Ajax Amsterdam and now the Catalans wait for the response from the Netherlands.
Would you want to see Nicolas Tagliafico and Andre Onana as Barca players next season?
