Barcelona’s search for Rakitic’s replacement continues as they stumble upon the option of landing Pjanic.

As per Don Balon, Barcelona are seriously considering Pjanic as an option to settle their midfield woes and to find a suitable partner for de Jong and Arthur.

Pjanic currently plays for Juventus and is one of the bigger names going around at the moment. As far as the Blaugranes are concerned, they have convinced the 31 year-old to join the squad but the only thing between him staying or hopping on the flight to Camp Nou is Juventus’ demand.

The Serie A giants have demanded Arthur as a part of the supposed swap deal to which Barcelona are reluctant to agree upon. On the other hand, Chelsea’s Jorginho is being circled by Juventus and the Blues have been keeping a close eye on Pjanic as well. As things seem to be, it may turn out to be a straight swap deal between the two clubs, leaving Barcelona in the dark.

Arthur is still pretty young and has the potential to become a superstar of the game. It doesn’t make sense to go after someone who is 31 years old and has limited days of consistent football left in him. Rather than than going someone who might very well hang up his boots in the next 3-4 years, it is better for the Catalan giants to groom Arthur well enough.

Moreover, with the current budget on their hands for the upcoming summer window, an expenditure of this sorts is only going to prove to be futile down the road and may very well end up being a regrettable decision. Barcelona should not get in the way of Chelsea and Juventus and should let Jorginho reunite with his former boss in Maurizio Sarri.
