Leo Messi will leave Barcelona if Suarez is sold this summer to make way for their chief target

Lionel Messi‘s recent statements and actions in public has been quite contradictory, the captain had earlier stated on an interview with Mundo Deportivo before the suspension of  La Liga that the arrival of Lautaro Martinez would be an immense addition for Barcelona now and in the future because of the San Siro striker’s age.

Although the Argentine captain wants his compatriot to join him at the Camp Nou and so does Luis Saurez who considers the player to be his ideal replacement, however, shockingly the reports emerging from Spain state otherwise.

Diaro GOL claims that Lionel Messi has made it clear that if Luis Suarez has to leave before his contract expires in the summer of 2021 because of the arrival of Lautaro Martinez, then the captain of the squad would walk out with his fellow forward as well.

Lautaro Martinez certainly would not arrive this season after Inter Milan confirmed that Barcelona have shown interest in signing their Argentine striker, however, the Serie A giants will not let their forward leave unless and until the Catalans pay the set 111 million release clause for Lautaro Martinez.

As Inter Milan have decided to be outspoken and blunt regarding the current uncertain future of Lautaro Martinez, it seems like Barca will not be able to sign the player this summer as the pandemic has massively disrupted their finances. The only method that the current La Liga leaders could consider to sign their chief target from Italy would be to sell players to raise cash for the summer.

Selling players would be a foolish method to raise cash since Quique Setien already faces a severe crisis in his squad due to the lack of squad depth in certain positions and a few injuries as well including Samuel Umtiti, Philippe Coutinho who is set to return in the summer and Ousmane Dembele.

However, if the Blaugrana do consider selling players and manage to raise around 100 million euros, Lautaro Martinez could be unveiled as a Blaugrana in the summer market at the cost of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez walking out since the Argentine would join the squad as a starter which would hamper the Uruguayan forward’s game time.

Should Josep Maria Bartomeu wait until 2021 to sign his chief transfer target or should they rush into the negotiations this summer?
