David Alaba is linked with a move to Barcelona in the upcoming transfer window.

More from Everything Barca

The Austria international is one of the most versatile footballers in the world who has displayed his ability to play in the defence as a left-back and as a center-back.  Furthermore, he has displayed his capabilities to the play in the midfield.

Alaba has been on the radar of Barcelona who are keen to find replacements for players such as Samuel Umtiti and Junior Firpo who are set to leave the club over the summer transfer window. The 27-year-old who was once eager the leave Allianz Arena might reconsider his decision as Hansi Flick, Bayern Munich’s head coach has stated that he would like to keep Alaba in the squad and has plans to offer him a contract which extends until 2025, as stated by the Goal.

The Spanish giants must try and sign the Austrian before he decides to renew his contract with the Bundesliga leaders as Quique Setien will lose out on the opportunity to sign a player who can reduce the pressure from Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet who have under-performed this season by conceding 31 goals in 27 league games.

However, Barca might find it tough to allocate sufficient funds to provide Alaba with a transfer offer as they have listed Lautaro Martinez and Neymar as their primary transfer targets for the upcoming season which is turning out to be an extremely expensive proposition.

The La Liga giants could try and offer some of their players such as Samuel Umtiti, Arturo Vidal and Ivan Rakitic to tempt Bayern Munich to negotiate a deal for their world-class player.

Currently David Alaba is satisfied with his role at the Germany and feels that playing as a central defender has added more value to his game. Even though he has admitted that he would like to play a more attacking role in the future.
