Barcelona reportedly have entered into negotiations with Dortmund over their star player

The left-flank at Barcelona is of grave concern to Quique Setien and Josep Maria Bartomeu since Jordi Alba has shown signs of deteriorating due to his age, Junior Firpo has failed when given the opportunity to cover the Spaniard’s position and the role of Antoine Griezmann on the left-wing has been a sheer waste of the player’s talent and what he offers.

More from Everything Barca

To curb the current situation that Quique Setien faces with a weak link of the left flank, Bartomeu has shortlisted a perfect replacement from Borussia Dortmund to replace the veteran Jordi Alba who is now past his prime. The reports emerging claim that the president of Barca has shortlisted Raphael Guerreiro, the Portuguese left-wing-full-back was the man of the match against Schalke 04 as the full-back scored 2 goals against his club’s arch-rivals in their four-nil thumping victory.

Lionel Messi and Quique Setien would be delighted with the rumours since the arrival of Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain seem to be too far fetched given the current circumstances the club faces and the arrival of Guerreiro from Dortmund would add depth on the weak left flank.

The 26-year-old Portuguese offers several options due to his versatility like Joshua Kimmich of Bayern Munich or David Alaba. The Dortmund man can play as a left-back in the defence, left midfielder, and as left-winger while attacking as well.

Quique Setien could use the pacey Bundesliga man as either as a replacement for Jordi Alba if Junior Firpo leaves or the player could be pushed higher up on the field on to the left-flank that would permit Antoine Griezmann to play a central forward which is his natural position.

Given the fact that Guerreiro has played most of the season as an attacking full-back along with Achraf Hakimi, the Portuguese footballer has managed to score 8 goals in the Bundesliga in 24 appearances despite having an important defensive role as well.

The Borussia Dortmund man is valued at 35 million euros, a figure that would not cause an issue at the Camp Nou and given the quality of the player, it is certain that the 35 million euros that would be paid would be worth every penny
