Barcelona plans on hijacking Real Madrid’s chief transfer target for the summer.

Barcelona and Real Madrid since their inception have battled it out for the same world-class players, however, last summer, the Blaugrana were dealt with a massive blow after Luka Jovic snubbed Barca and signed for their eternal rivals Real Madrid.

This summer, the office at Camp Nou has panned out a masterplan that is set to cause havoc at the Santiago Bernabeu after Josep Maria Bartomeu has given the green light to sign Florentino Luis of Benfica who has been on the agenda of Real Madrid, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Bayern Munich, according to Don Balon.

Both the Blaugrana and the Los Blancos are in the need of a young defensive midfielder to act as a secondary choice before taking over the role. Real Madrid in the summer of 2019 sold their backup defensive midfielder Marcos Llorente to city rivals, Atletico Madrid.  Currently, Zinedine Zidane lacks a natural central-defensive midfielder and Federico Valverde has been his first choice this season to cover up Casemiro’s role. Fede Valverde has performed admirably this season by picking up the man of the match on several occasions, however, Zidane still insists on the signing of a young natural central defensive midfielder.

At the Camp Nou, Sergio Busquets has shown signs of deterioration due to his age and Frenkie de Jong is Quique Setien’s secondary choice to cover Busquets’s role, however, as Arturo Vidal may leave either this summer or next year,  the former Real Betis manager insists on the signing of Florentino Luis from Benfica to add depth to the midfield.

Despite being 20-years-old, the Portuguese midfielder is wanted by the two biggest clubs in European football. What makes the Benefica academy product stand out in his position is his skill of anticipating the opposition play which can be seen this season as the player has average 4 interceptions every game.

Apart from his brilliant skill of reading the game, the Benfica man possesses the quality of playing out from the back, a trait that is deemed important to succeed in Spain. The 20-year-old footballer’s style of play revolves around short passes, aggressive tackling, and having a shot on goal from distance.

The report from Don Balon claims that the Catalans are willing to bid 30 million euros to steal the young Portuguese and build a sustainable team for the future. The arrival of Florentino Luis would be an exciting prospect for Barcelona and for the Spanish league to watch the marvels of the Portuguese from Benfica like Joao Felix.
