Shockingly five members of Barcelona test positive for COVID-19

From the 8th of May, Barcelona had resumed training once again after the Spanish FA had given the green light ever since the suspension of the league due to the pandemic. The first few training sessions saw Quique Setien and his squad train in groups rather than an entire team collectively as all clubs are bound to adhere to the protocols set out by the Spanish government to slow dream the spread of COVID-19.

With the number of cases in Spain and in Europe decreasing, the Spanish FA has decided to go ahead with the league and the Blaugrana are set to face RCD Mallorca at the Son Moix. As the Catalans have just 11 games left in hand along with two-point lead over Real Madrid, Quique Setien and would possibly not have to break a sweat against RCD Mallorca who is currently facing the threat of being relegated.

However, despite Barca being on top of the table with only 11 games to go, Quique Setien’s worries continue to grow as only six out of the seven members who were tested positive for COVID-19 have returned to training fully recovered, according to Eldes marque.

The reports emerging from Spain state that five of the seven infected were footballers and two of them were staff members. However, none of the infected members have been named yet, despite recovering as well.

The rumours in Spain claim that the seventh member who has not yet returned to training and could still possibly be fighting the disease is Ousmane Dembele. The certainty of the rumours is still to be questioned as Barcelona has made no statement as of yet and the club has started training as a team from the first of June in order to successfully defender their La Liga title.
