Barcelona fans may be in for a splendid surprise.

Antoine Griezmann arrived into Barcelona from Atletico Madrid last summer for a transfer fee of 120 million euros. The France international was tipped to achieve great things at the Camp Nou, but has not been welcomed in warmly by the senior players as a result of his ‘The Decision’ antique wherein he rejected the club just one year prior to moving.

More from Everything Barca

Lionel Messi has been among those who is not a big fan of the World Cup winner and that’s visible on the field when the captain blatantly ignore a free Griezmann when a passing option opens. Besides that, the other major dressing room figures also have never been in favour of the ex-Real Sociedad man being a Barcelona player.

With that said, there is pressure on the board to exchange the player for Neymar whose return to Spain has been speculated for a long time now. The Brazil international is wanted at the Camp Nou by Lionel Messi and indeed, the Argentina international is among those keen on a swap deal being executed with Paris Saint-Germain, Don Balon claims.

PSG show flexibility in their negotiations.

PSG value their record-signing for a sum of 175 million euros now, having reduced his valuation upon his desire to leave as well as the coronavirus pandemic. Even a reduction of more than 25 million euros puts the price beyond the Blaugrana and as such, a swap deal seems to be their only option of landing the 28-year-old for a second time.

Barcelona have finally agreed with their greatest player and will sanction a deal with the Ligue 1 giants. What should be of note to the Catalans is that the Parisians are interested in Griezmann’s arrival and with some more cash over the Euro 2016’s top marksman, they would part ways with their 222-million-euro-man.

Despite some sort of a verbal agreement probably in place between the two clubs, the Barca forward is not happy with the prospect of leaving the club just one year after his signing and has ambitions of succeeding where he is right now. Convincing Griezmann to leave will be a task for both clubs and it will be interesting to see how things turn out.
