The Los Palanganas were willing to take the risk in the summer of 2019/20 when they signed the Argentine striker, Lucas Ocampos, from Olympique de Marseille for 15 million euros for an unknown forward.
The 25-year-old right-winger before signing for Sevilla had a difficult past as the Argentine failed to secure an important starting role in Marseille, AC Milan, Genoa, and AS Monaco. However, with Julen Lopetegui’s trust, the Argentine forward has shown his brilliance in his debut season with his dazzling quick feet and a sharp eye for goal.
The board at Barca has received applauds about the player from Lionel Messi, which seems to be quite shocking since the player generally does not talk about other footballers,
Leo Messi considers his compatriot to be an ideal replacement and an addition ahead for Ousmane Dembele who has been more of liability for the club rather than an asset.
Lionel Messi requests for the signing of Ocampos at Barcelona
The greatest football in the history of Barcelona is set to turn 33 soon and the club has to ensure to prepare for a post-Lionel Messi era Ousmane Dembele was once considered as a player who could possibly take over Leo Messi’s role, however, the French forward has been a massive let down due to his injuries.
Jadon Sancho‘s name has rung several bells at the Camp Nou, however, the board has ruled out the signing since the Englishman is heavily linked to Manchester United and Chelsea this summer and both the clubs are financially in a better position than the Blaugrana.
With limited options available in the transfer market, Leo Messi has named Lucas Ocampos as the player that is required to add options from the bench. The captain of Barca values his countryman highly and believes that his potential could be achieved at Barca under his guidance and the staff.
What do you make of Messi’s opinion? It must be noted that Lucas Ocampos has struggled immensely before his dream start at Sevilla and a shift to Barca would not be an easy task for the 25-year old. The Blaugrana have had a long history of signing flop superstars for exuberant prices, however, Lucas Ocampos is up for cheap and could maybe be the bargain signing of the summer.
