Barcelona are close to parting ways with an experienced player.

Diario GOL reports that Pep Guardiola is desperately trying to make a move in order to land Barcelona man Sergi Roberto at the Etihad Stadium. Roberto is one of Guardiola’s favourite players and he feels that his inclusion to the Manchester City line-up would be a blessing.

More from Everything Barca

While Roberto has made his intentions clear about staying at the club, he does intend to leave should a right offer arrive from Manchester City and even the Blaugrana might get rid of their La Masia product if the Citizens pay well.

It could well be a blessing in disguise for the Blaugrana as the Spaniard is ageing pretty quickly and this is a good way to offload him. He is currently valued at 30 million euros and it could be a good sale, considering the current financial situation of the club, which has been the worst in recent times.

Keeping Roberto at one side, it seems that the Premier League giants are also interested in Nelson Semedo and they intend to make a swap deal offer for him. Joao Cancelo could come in return as a part of either of the deals in totality.

There’s no doubt that Manchester City will benefit from Roberto’s arrival but the PL is a bit too physical for his play and it’ll be interesting to see how he handles that part.

The financial low at the club has seen the board open up to offers on players like Ousmane Dembele Dembele, Ivan Rakitic, and Arthur Melo and some big sales could be expected this time. Barcelona shouldn’t think twice about this deal as getting rid of Roberto will be a like a major burden off them. He hasn’t been the player he was a few years ago and besides, he isn’t a permanent fixture in Quique Setien’s plans anymore.
