Barcelona have 6 players as the next left-back if Junior Firpo leaves.

Barcelona have identified 6 footballers as the ideal successor to Junior Firpo‘s role as a backup to Jordi Alba after reports linking Firpo to the Lautaro Martinez deal.

More from Everything Barca

Firpo was linked with a move to multiple European clubs for this summer transfer window but recent reports claim that the 23-year-old will be included in the Lautaro deal as Inter Milan‘s 111 million euro transfer fee is too high for Barca to pay fully in cash.

Firpo is believed to be worth 41 million euros and the remaining 70 million for Lautaro will be paid by the Catalans in cash reports Mundo Deportivo. The Nerazzurri boss, Antonio Conte, has a particular liking for Junior as he believes the defender can perfectly fit in his three-man defense setup.

The Italian side are looking to sign reinforcements for their left flank. Chelsea recently rejected their approach on Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri forcing Inter to look elsewhere. Firpo has been identified as a potential signing as he has the potential to fit in Conte’s 3-5-2 system.

Meanwhile, losing Junior to Inter will mean Barca’s Jordi Alba will have no backup for next season. The Spaniard in recent years has been on a decline especially showing psychological weakness in important matches as was evident in the clashes against Liverpool and Roma.

Alba’s recent injury left Barca without a proper left-back with Firpo struggling to deliver consistent results while Nelson Semedo was shifted to left-flank away from his natural right-back role.

To resolve this issue, the Catalan giants have shortlisted 6 footballers that have the capability to provide Alba with sufficient backup to go through a season successfully.
