Barcelona receive a major boost in hopes to sign Bayern Munich man.

As per Don Balon, David Alaba has chosen Barcelona over their eternal rivals in Real Madrid as his next destination. Alaba is currently a hot target for many clubs and no doubt that he’s a great addition for any club.

Currently playing at centre back, Bayern have failed to fully realise his attacking potential and that is one of the causes as to why the 27 year-old wants to leave the Bundesliga giants. Barcelona and Real Madrid were the ones who were closely linked with the German but it seems that the Blaugrana have inched closer to signing him.

The 27 year old would be a great replacement for Jordi Alba who has been in and out of the squad owing to his injuries, thus being the faint impression of a player he once was. Even if the management chooses to give the Spaniard a bit more time, Alaba can very well back him up as well. Not to mention, Junior Firpo has been a huge flop and this is the ideal time to get rid of him.

Alaba is Barca’s best available option

The Austrian defender is a way better choice than Nicolas Tagliafico and Barcelona shouldn’t think twice about landing him, if they do get the chance. His attacking potential is seriously underrated and he can play the long-ball as well as complement the ones at the front. His free kick accuracy is quite decent as well.

Alphonso Davies is currently irreplaceable at the Allianz Arena and they will be sure to hold on to him for a quite some time. In time, he will replace Alaba completely and by the looks of it, the 27 year-old wants to prevent that. He’s in his prime and still has about 3-5 years of top class football in him.

Valued at 50 million euros, the price is quite reasonable considering the package that Alaba brings in with himself. He will be the perfect to complement the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez from the left-flank and with his speed as well as offer much-needed defensive support to Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet who are sometimes left isolated in the centre.
