PSG take their final stance over Neymar’s transfer to Barcelona.

Barcelona are going to be in the transfer market this summer as they bid to revamp their frontline. With Luis Suarez aged and being at his worst in recent years, Lautaro Martinez is the primary target from strikers wanted by the club whereas Neymar is also on their radar to add potion to the left wing, which has been lacklustre since his departure in 2017.

More from Everything Barca

Inter Milan are firm in their demands for Lautaro Martinez and have now cleared the fact that they will not accept anything less than 111 million euros, his release clause from any club. Barca taking time to negotiate has also seen Chelsea join the bidding party for Timo Werner, their other target, and effectively all but close on his signing.

What happens with the Argentina international arriving at the Camp Nou remains to be seen now but the Catalans have not lifted interest off Paris Saint-Germain’s Neymar. The Brazil international has been tipped to return ever since he left the club and it was indeed thought that he would be signed by Barca last summer.

However, things were made to wait mostly as a result of the Blaugrana’s financial situation and one year down the line too, nothing seems to have changed. The 28 year old seems more settled than ever at the Parc des Princes this season but has kept the door open on a second tenure in La Liga. PSG have now made their demands clear for him.

Barca must face the reality going into the transfer window

El Desmarque reports that the Parisians will not accept any players in exchange despite being offered Antoine Griezmann, Philippe Coutinho and other options lately. Nasser Al-Khelaifi has affirmed that the club will only accept cash in a trade-off for their world-record signing and in a bid to offload him, they’ve lowered his value to 175 million euros.

Realistically speaking, it is unideal to think that Josep Maria Bartomeu will be able to sanction a transfer for the former Santos superstar. The Barca president has to prioritize on signing a striker and preferably some defenders first before spending a club-record sum on one player whose wages are going to be an exorbitant figure as well.

One of the worst clubs affected as a result of the coronavirus pandemic is Barcelona and even affording Lautaro Martinez in a full cash payment would be great for them. Not to mention, other areas of the squad need overhauling as well and Lionel Messi’s contract extension is also waiting in the wings for Bartomeu and his directors.
