Barcelona want to reignite their chase for Neymar despite scout cut.

Barcelona have identified Neymar as a priority signing over recent months but have struggled to convince Paris Saint-Germain into selling the Brazilian winger for a player exchange.

The ongoing COVID-19 crisis had forced Barca to not only reduce the salaries of their footballer but also minimize their staff. A major change was also made to their transfer plans as the Catalan giants will truly struggling to make cash only transfers this summer and are attempting to convince clubs to accept their players in exchange.

This is most notable in the deals for Miralem Pjanic, Neymar, Lautaro Martinez, and Mattia De Sciglio. Another one of these changes was to their scouting staff that was reduced by 50%, from 40 to 20 employees.

One of those scouting agents was Andre Cury who has been working for Blaugrana since 2012 and has played a key role in Barca’s relatively recent signings of Brazilian internationals like Paulinho, Malcom, Arthur Melo and Philippe Coutinho.

Cury was also an important figure in securing Neymar back in 2013 and is reportedly going to be used again in the negotiations this summer as despite his departure he will still represent Barca without being under contract. His history with Neymar and his friendship with his father, Neymar Santos, will help bring Neymar closer to Barca.

Andre will continue offering Brazilian talents to the Spanish side despite not being an official agent for the club but may perhaps be rehired after the financial situation at Camp Nou improves. Meanwhile, his current focus remains to bolster negotiations with PSG in order to find the perfect deal for Neymar’s return to the Nou Camp.

Barca cannot afford to pay the Parisiens in cash as the majority of their available fund will go towards securing Lautaro Martinez, who is nearing a move to La Liga if Barca manages to pay 70-90 million euros along with Junior Firpo as payment.

Should Barca consider Neymar as a priority signing for the summer or choose the many wingers available in the current squad?
