Barcelona will have to pay a large sum of money to sign Kalidou Koulibaly.

More from Everything Barca

Barcelona need to sign a world-class defender who can remove the pressure of Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet from over-performing in the upcoming season which has been the main reason why the Spanish giants have suffered defensively conceding 31 goals in 27 games this season.

The La Liga champions have identified Koulibaly to be a potential transfer target to sign in order to solve their defensive problems. This is because the 28-year old Senegalese centre back has been in incredible form providing consistent performances for Napoli over the past few seasons. Many other clubs such as Manchester United and Liverpool have also shown interest to sign the star defender as stated by the Goal.

Napoli’s sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has stated that despite the outbreak of the coronavirus the cost to sign his clubs star defender hasn’t fallen and he is expected to cost a lot of money to make the defender leave the San Paolo stadium over the next few seasons. However, Giuntoli has suggested that clubs can negotiate loan deals with a buyout clause for his star defender.

Koulidou Koulibaly has an estimated market value of 60 million euros.

Alternately Quique Setien can offer Gennaro Gattuso players such as Samuel Umtiti and Junior Firpo in a swap deal to reduce the transfer price in order to sign the star defender on a permeant basis.

Barca must try and to sign their other defensive transfer targets such as Dayot Upamecano and Ibrahima Konate if they are unable to sign Koulidou Koulibaly.
