Inter Milan chief clueless about Lautaro’s Barcelona deal.

Inter Milan CEO, Giuseppe Marotta, reveals his thoughts on the ongoing negotiations with Barcelona concerning their Argentine Striker.

More from Everything Barca

Marotta claims that the Nerazzurri have no intention of letting their no. 10 leave this summer as they consider him a vital part of Antonio Conte’s plans. Despite this, Lautaro does have a clause that forces Inter to make him available for 111 million euros for the first 2 weeks of July.

Barca are clear contenders to claim Lautaro as their own in the next transfer window with Real Madrid and Manchester United also keeping a close eye on the situation. The Catalan giants, however, are unable to pay the demanded amount in full as they do not have the financial power to manage 111m without any player exchanges involved.

Moratto opens up on the Argentine’s future

Moratto, however, does not know what Barca are planning, stating that on a personal level he does not wish to see Lautaro leave but at the same time must prepare for the possible departure.

"“We do not want to sell Lautaro. I do not know what Barcelona thinks, perhaps they also have alternatives. I hope they do not pay the clause, He is young, he has a future and he is important to Conte . But, in the event of a farewell, in his place will come a player of great weight, a top-level footballer.” Marotta told Gazzetta dello SportSource Marca"

The current transfer market is deeply affected by the ongoing COVID-19 crisis as clubs find it difficult to negotiate for players as they offer player exchange deals instead of the usual cash amount. Giuseppe claims that this will be beneficial for Inter as it is more difficult to sell in the current market than to purchase.

"“In this market, the difficulty will not be having to buy, but being able to sell. We are not in a hurry, “he continued."

It remains to be seen what the outcome of this extended soap opera is as Barca continues to push hard for the transfer of Lautaro Martinez.
