Even though Barcelona have been effective with their attacks this season scoring 63 goals in 27 league games the club has decided to spend their transfer budget to sign an offensive player in the upcoming transfer window.
Many believe that the 2018-2019 La Liga champions must not spend their limited funds to sign such expensive attack minded players and sign a world-class defender instead who can act as a long-term replacement for Gerard Pique as well as cover up for Samuel Umtiti who is set to leave the club. However, as of now the Spanish giants are heavily linked with Neymar and Lautaro Martinez and are currently negotiating transfer offers with the pair’s teams.
Wenger feels Barca will make a mistake by signing a striker.
According to the Goal, Arsenal’s ex manager Arsene Wenger has predicted that the La Liga leaders are bound to sign a striker over the summer transfer window. Wenger has further added a statement in which he has said that the Spanish club would be spoiling Antoine Griezmann’s chances to adapt in the Camp Nou by signing a striker in the upcoming transfer window. Griezmann was signed for 120 million euros from Atletico Madrid in 2019 but has only been able to score 8 goals in 26 league appearances.
Barcelona mustn’t sign another offensive player in such quick succession and allow the French international to adapt to life under Quique Setien. Alternatively, the Spanish giants could spend their limited transfer budget to sign younger players such as Sandro Tonali and Fabian Ruiz who can act as replacements for Arturo Vidal, Ivan Rakitic and Sergio Busquets who in their 30’s and are playing one of their last few seasons of football.
Do you think Barca should continue to pursue the transfer of Lautaro Martinez.
