Barcelona cruised past RCD Mallorca in their away fixture

Barcelona resumed their league campaign on the best possible note after cruising past RCD Mallorca in an away fixture. Despite the complaints regarding the five substitution rule from Quique Setien, the Blaugrana managed to score 4 goals against the relegation side while maintaining a clean sheet.

However, according to the reports from Eldes marque, the club has considered kicking Arturo Vidal out this coming summer transfer market in order to raise funds for their main transfer agenda. The rumours are quite surprising since Arturo Vidal has once again shown his quality against Mallorca by scoring the opening goal and finishing the game as one of the best performers along with Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba.

Is Barcelona making a grave mistake by selling Vidal?

The midfield at Barca seems to be a serious condition for the board and Quique Setien to consider. Currently, the squad has 3 midfield starters who are over 30-years of age including the likes of Sergio Busquets, Ivan Rakitic, and Arturo Vidal. The only two youngsters that play as midfielders and have the first-team experience are Frenkie de Jong and Arthur Melo. Riqui Puig and Alex Collado are potential talents that still require a lot of game time before they could actually replace the current starters at the club.

So would selling Arturo Vidal benefit the club? if the board sells the former Juventus man and signs a younger replacement then the departure of Vidal would not cost the club much. However, if the current La Liga leaders decide to sell the South-American footballer and sign Miralem Pjanic instead, then the departure of Vidal would be felt heavily since 33-year-old is extremely versatile and presses aggressively unlike Pjanic.

The reports from Spain claim that either Arturo Vidal would be offered in the Miralem Pjanic swap deal or the Chilean would be offered to Inter Milan along with cash once again for Lautaro Martinez.

If this is to be Vidal’s final season at the Camp Nou, the former Juventus man would possibly walk out with his 10th consecutive league title given the fact that Barca does not drop points for the remaining jam-packed 10 fixtures that lie ahead.
