Barcelona’s chief figures agree on a huge change.

Barcelona got back to action last weekend as they claimed a resounding 4-0 success over RCD Mallorca to keep the destiny of La Liga in their own hands. Real Madrid’s subsequent win over Eibar saw them close the gap between first and second to two points, with the leaders coming up against Leganes next whereas Los Blancos host Valencia.

More from Everything Barca

Lionel Messi put in a masterclass despite being three months away from touch, but the bigger headline was probably grabbed by Martin Braithwaite who scored for the first time in his new colours. However, Antoine Griezmann was rather lacklustre as he once again was scoreless or without much involvement having played on the left wing.

Diario GOL has claimed that the Barcelona coach Quique Setien and Lionel Messi have mutually agreed to get rid of Antoine Griezmann. The former Atletico Madrid frontman has been linked with departures to various destinations since signing for the club and all the more so with Barca’s constantly strengthening links with Lautaro Martinez and Neymar.

With that said, the France international seems to be hellbent on pursuing a successful career at the Camp Nou. The Blaugrana have reportedly tried pushing him away by offering him a swap with Paris Saint-Germain, but the World Cup winner has rejected any such advances and is keen on making a name for himself in Spain itself, where he’s spent a long time without winning much.

Barcelona will benefit both possible instances.

However, Griezmann’s future holds two extreme results for Barcelona and thus, they must be patient with him. First, Luis Suarez isn’t going to be around for long and hence, it’s necessary that they keep a natural striker in their squad without agreeing a deal for another one. Griezmann is an incredible player who’s not been used to his best and that should be noted.

Second and more importantly, their task of landing Lautaro and Neymar could see the 29-year-old be a key figure. Inter Milan and PSG have both been insistent on getting money, but if their respective players come up with forceful antiques then they’ll have little option and could have to run away with what’s offered to them on the plate, potentially Griezmann out here.
