Football Insider reports that Jurgen Klopp has quickly turned his eyes on targetting Barca’s struggling forward Ousmane Dembele instead. The current Premier League leaders have been assessing extensively to sign a forward this summer and after failing on Werner, they have already made an official bid for the Frenchman in Camp Nou.
The report claims that the German coach rates Dembele very highly and wants to initially sign him on loan. The plan is to get through the current coronavirus affected transfer market without any more economic deficits and make the move permanent later on.
Dembele has been struggling at Camp Nou since his arrival in 2017 for 120 million euros. The youngster has been haunted by reoccurring injuries throughout his time in La Liga and could perhaps be benefited by a move to a great team elsewhere.
Former Manchester City player, Dylan Childs, revealed to Football Insider that he does not find Dembele as the ideal fit for Klopp as what the Reds require is an out and out striker which the French international clearly isn’t.
"“He is a wider forward who is more in the role of Mane and Salah – that type of player, is not the out and out center-forward that they need but they are champions league holders and they are going to win the league.” Mills said."
Liverpool have also added former Barca academy player, Adama Traore, and Borussia Dortmund’s star forward, Jadon Sancho, on the list of possible alternatives to Timo Werner. It remains to be seen what kind of deal is struck with the Catalans as they are in desperate need of sales in order to increase their funds.
Should Barca sell Ousmane Dembele to Liverpool or only let him off on a loan?
