Barcelona plan on signing a goalkeeper

More from Everything Barca

Barcelona have Marc-Andre ter Stegen in goal who can be considered as one of the best goalkeepers in the world. However, there are many reports that suggest that the German superstar is contemplating if he wants to stay at the Camp Nou over the next few season as the German giants Bayern Munich have shown interest to bring the player back to Germany.

The La Liga leaders really appreciate the Ter Stegen and despite failing to agree to the keepers demands to extend his contract in the past the German superstar still remains hopeful and feels like the club will renew his contract after the coronavirus passes.

Barca have shown interest to sign Luis Maximiano.

According to the Express, Quique Setien has shown interest to sign the 21-year-old Portuguese goalkeeper who can replace Neto from the Spanish giant’s side. Neto is 30 years old and hasn’t been able to help the squad efficiently by conceding 7 goals in 4 matches. In addition to replacing the Brazilian goalkeeper Maximiano will help remove the pressure off Ter Stegen from over overperforming and hence improve his performances.

Maximiano has an estimated market value of around 3 million euros and a contract which keeps him at Sporting Lisbon till 2023. Barca must try to sign the Portuguese international as he has shown signs to developing into an exceptional player just as Rui Patricio who has been phenomenal for Wolves over the last few seasons. Moreover, the Spanish giants plan to establish a younger squad who Maximiano will thrive in.

This transfer might end up costing the club a huge sum of money as the 21-year-old is heavily linked with a move to Manchester United. Quique Setien could try and offer a swap deal with Sporting Lisbon in which they include players such as Arturo Vidal and Junior Firpo to strike a deal at a cheaper rate with the club.
