Barcelona plan on signing a midfielder in the upcoming transfer window.

More from Everything Barca

Barcelona have been negotiating a transfer in order to bring Juventus’s star midfielder Miralem Pjanic to the Camp Nou in the upcoming season to replace Ivan Rakitic and Arturo Vidal who are set to leave the club in the near future.

Even though Juventus have agreed to enter into a swap deal with the Spanish giants the clubs are still negotiating a deal for Pjanic. This is because the Italian club has  shown interest to swap Arthur Melo and Ansu Fati for their playmaker which the current La Liga leaders aren’t ready to agree to.

Chelsea have shown interest to sign Pjanic.

Despite strong links with Barcelona Chelsea have plans to attract the Bosnia-Herzegovina international to the Premier League. This is because the English club is trying to establish a stronger midfield and believe that Pjanic would be a great addition to their squad as stated by the Mirror. The playmaker has an estimated market value of 52 million euros and has a contract which keeps him at Juventus till 2023.

Barca must accelerate the rate of negotiations for Pjanic, the club could do so by trying to include other players such as Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho to try and tempt Juventus to drop their demands of signing Ansu Fati and Arthur Melo who are extremely important player that the club must retain.

Alternatively, Quique Setien could try to sign other midfielders such as Thiago from Bayern Munich and Allan from Napoli who can play similar roles as Juventus’s star midfielder. If the club is unable to sign any of these players they might have to extend the contracts for Rakitic and Vidal for another year to make sure that Sergio Busquets and Frenkie de Jong aren’t overstretched and overused in the upcoming season.
