Barcelona must sign a world-class midfielder.
More from Everything Barca
Sergio Busquets will turn 32 in July and is playing one of his last few seasons for Barcelona. The Spaniard has been a regular feature in the side since 2008 and has barely missed playing any league matches for the side. Busquets must be replaced by another defensive player who can be as efficient and regular as the Spaniard has been for the side.
The Spanish giants have decided against extending the contracts of Ivan Raktic and Auturo Vidal in order to raise more funds to the transfer budget this season. Many clubs across Europe have shown interest in the experienced midfielders and are negotiating deals with their agents. Even though the current La Liga leaders are set to lose these experienced midfielders Quique Setien hasn’t been able to sign any replacements for them.
Chelsea are willing to sell Kante.
According to the Daily Mail, Frank Lampard is willing to sell their French superstar N’Golo Kante in order to raise funds to sign Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen. The world cup winner has only been able to play 18 league games this season as he has suffered a string of injuries through the course of this season. Despite being injured this season the Frenchman has an estimated market value of 80 million euros and can be considered as the best box to box midfielder in the English League who is bound to be attract a lot of attention from big European clubs such as PSG, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich. As of now Kante hasn’t received any offers and is a part of the English club.
Barca should opt to sign Kante who can help fill the void of Raktic and Vidal from the squad and add more depth to the midfield of the Camp Nou. Signing the world cup winner will also help remove pressure from Sergio Busquets and Frenkie de Jong who play in a similar role as the Frenchman . However, singing the player might end up being an expensive proposition.
Quique Setien must try to negotiate a swap deal with Chelsea and include players such as Phillippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele to the English club to reduce the price for their player. Alternatively, the club could try and negotiate a loan deal with a buyout clause for the player.
