Lionel Messi has been on fine form this season and given his recent performances against RCD Mallorca and Leganes, it seems like the Argentine would probably feature on the scoresheet once again tonight.
However, reports from Eldes marque claim that the board at Barca has prepared to offer Leo Messi a contract extension until the summer of 2023 and what could be his last contract renewal with his beloved club. The contract renewal would also see Messi’s wages increase, however, the report has not specified the amount by which it would possibly increase.
What about a post-Lionel Messi era at the Camp Nou?
Irrespective of whoever Barcelona sign when Lionel Messi leaves the club it would still not fill in the void left behind by the Argentine, however, a plan for the future would be important to ensure longevity and success.
The current potential replacements that Barca could look to fill Messi’s role post-2023 would be Jadon Sancho of Borussia Dortmund, Leroy Sane, and Raheem Sterling of Manchester City. The three candidates would be an ideal replacement, however, none of the three potential replacements would come cheap and Barca would have to break the bank once again to sign any of the mentioned players.
For now, the fans at the Camp Nou can continue watching the magic of Lionel Messi until 2023, and meanwhile, the management at the club would continue to narrow down their choices to replace Messi. Who would you want to see at Barca to fill in Lionel Messi’s boots?
