The unwanted footballer at Barcelona has now become an indisputable figure

The tension mounts at Barcelona as Real Madrid prepare to face Real Sociedad tonight at the Anoeta Stadium. The Los Blancos will go the distance tonight to ensure all three points after Quique Setien’s men dropped points in a crucial away fixture against Sevilla.

More from Everything Barca

Quique Setien had created history as the starting elven against Sevilla was the oldest average elven ever fielded by the club. The current starting elven consists of several aged players who are past their prime and the issue was pointed out by Frenkie de Jong earlier in the season.

Earlier reports had claimed that the Blaugrana had considered selling a few older players in the squad such as Arturo Vidal and Ivan Rakitic. Arturo Vidal was heavily linked with a move to the San Siro in exchange for Lautaro Martinez and Ivan Rakitic was linked with a move back to his former club, Sevilla.

Reports now state that Vidal will not be sold due to his recent performances.

Arturo Vidal was earlier framed in the season as an unwanted figure at the Camp Nou and now the report from Eldes marque claims that the unwanted figure has become an indisputable player under the eyes of the former Real Betis manager, Quique Setien.

Quique Setien has fielded the player as a starter in the midfield twice out of the three games the Blaugrana have played since the league has been resumed once again. The former Juventus man had also scored Barca’s first goal since the league had resumed by scoring a towering header in the second minute of the game against RCD Mallorca which ended as a thumping victory for Setien.

It seems like the 33-year-old will continue next season as it would be his final season at the Camp Nou since his contract ends in the summer of 2021. What is your opinion on Vidal staying until his contract runs out rather than selling him this summer market? Would Vidal’s presence for another season hamper the growth of the younger players by limiting their game time?.
