Juventus’s offer to Barcelona that cannot be turned down

Barcelona prepares to take on Athletic Bilbao tonight at the Camp Nou after dropping points against Sevilla that has seen Real Madrid progress as leaders of the La Liga Santander league table. Tonight’s home fixture against Athletic Bilbao would be a crucial game for the Catalans as they must clinch all three points to continue their title race along with Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid who are favourites to win the league this season given their impressive squad depth.

More from Everything Barca

The lack of squad depth and the political factors inside the club has been the reason for Barca’s downfall this season and the Catalan club might finish the season trophyless as well. Having said that, to add to the misery of the lack of squad depth and an aged squad, reports from the Eldes marque claim that Juventus have offered Barcelona’s superstar midfielder an irresistible offer that cannot be turned down.

What does Juventus offer that Barcelona cannot offer Arthur?

Juventus is willing to offer Arthur Melo a five-year contract along with an increment in his salary by almost double the figures he makes at the Camp Nou annually.

Given the current pandemic, most clubs have already slashed their player’s and staff’s salaries in order to balance out the massive loss incurred while football was suspended. However, Juventus is willing to offer Arthur Melo 5.2 million euros a year which is a tremendous amount when compared to the 3.2 million euros per year Melo makes at Barca.

Brazilian footballers and money have a long history that goes ages back. It would not be a surprise if Arthur Melo decides to sign for Juventus since Barca currently seem like a sinking ship under Josep Maria Bartomeu and Eric Abidal.

The Blaugrana already has an aged squad filled with players past their prime and currently lacks young players that could successfully replace the current 11. Nor does Barca have sufficient money in the bank to make major signings to compete for all the competitions successfully. Arthur Melo on an individual level would be better off elsewhere rather than at Barca that is currently sinking slowly under their incompetent board.

Do you think Arthur Melo would leave Barca this summer?
